Kids Say the Darndest Things

My son was misbehaving prior to bedtime at my parents' house this past weekend. My father came upstairs to 'have a talk' with him. My little one usually listens when his Papa speaks. My dad was laying into him. "This is unacceptable and inappropriate behavior." (I don't know how my dad gets away with using these large words with a 3 year old, but it always works. "Everyone has to go to bed. You need to behave."

This is when my little one broke in saying, "But I don't want to behave." Odd, he usually doesn't talk back to Papa.

"Too bad. You have to." The little one calms down, and I come back in to get him dressed in his jamas. As he is catching his breath from sobbing, my son says to me, "I don't want to behave." I said, "Baby, behave just means be good." He replies, "But I don't want to behave, I want to be _____ (insert his name here).

Ha ha ha. I had to hold my laughter in because I knew it would make him cry again, but is that NOT the cutest thing in the world? I guess it really is true. Kids say the darndest things!
